The candle making course is suitable for complete beginners (Adults 16+) or those just starting out. These are practical, hands-on courses and you will hand pour your own candles. The course will give you the knowledge and skills needed to create your own container candles at home.

What is a Container Candle?
A container candle is a type of candle that is poured into a container, such as a glass jar, tin, or ceramic vessel, instead of being moulded or shaped into a free-standing form. Free form candles include Pillar Candles. For candle making beginners, a container candle is the easiest and safest candle to make.
Experienced Tuition
- 2.5 hours of guided tuition with an experienced candle chandler (a chandler is a candle maker!).
- Classes held in a professional, purpose designed Workshop Studio.
- One Tutor and a max of four persons.
What you will Learn
- The equipment you will need to make candles at home. This will include equipment you will almost certainly have already and some which you can choose to buy.
- An overview of the candle making ingredients, the different types of wax, wicks and fragrances available and where to buy these ingredients.
- A demonstration of how to make a candle
- calculating the amount of wax and fragrance oil required.
- wicking a candle.
- melting the wax to the correct temperature
- mixing the wax and the fragrance oil at the correct temperature.
- pouring the wax by hand.
- the UK government candle labelling requirements
- With the guidance of the Tutor, you will make three candles.
What is Provided
- All materials are provided, just bring yourself!
- Using you own dedicated Workstation, you will make three of your own container candles using eco-friendly, plant-based wax (Soy Wax), a choice of natural fragrances with both wood wicks and eco-friendly cotton wicks.
- Replicating the demonstration, you will prepare the candle wax, fragrance and wicks and will then hand pour one 30cl glass candle, one 20cl candle in a tin and one 10cl travel tin candle to take home with you.
- A comprehensive printed reference file of the step-by-step guide to making candles at home.

Workshop Studio
All our candle making classes are held in a purpose designed workshop studio. Each attendee will have their own workstation and own set of equipment to make their own candles.
