Candle Making Workshops
Guided by our experienced tutors, you’ll make three eco-friendly soy wax candles (worth over £35 ) to take home. Our candle-making workshop is hosted in our purpose-designed Craft Studio in Cardiff Bay. We will take you through all the steps so that you leave our workshop with the experience and knowledge to make your own container candles at home... safely.
During the workshop, you’ll be guided step-by-step through the process of creating your own natural candles using high-quality ingredients. You’ll learn about fragrance blending, wax and wicks types, and finishing your candles all in a relaxed, small-group setting.

Your tutor will practically demonstrate how to make a candle from start to finish. Then its your turn! With as much guidance and help as you need, you will make your candles yourself - you will calculate and measure the wax/fragrance oil ratio, centre the wicks in place, mix the 'ingredients' and lastly pour by hand the wax into the candle containers.
During your session, you’ll learn:
- the importance of safety in candle making
- candle labelling and UK law requirements
- different types of candle containers
- different types of candle waxes and why we choose plant-based waxes
- different candle wicks why it is important to use the correct sized wicks
- mixing candle wax and fragrance oils in the correct and safe proportions
- finishing off candles to improve aesthetic value
You’ll leave with your own candles that you have made and with the confidence to continue candle making at home.

No experience is required. Our workshops are designed to be accessible for complete beginners or for those who want a knowledge refresh.
What is included in the Workshop prices?
All materials, (wax, wicks, fragrance oils) tools, and guidance are included. You’ll also take home the items you create during the workshop and a printed file summarising the course.

Do you offer Evening and weekend workshops?
Our candle caking workshops are available for booking on weekday evenings and at weekends. With some prior notice, we can be flexible on dates and times to suit your requirements.
How long do candle making workshops typically last?
We aim to finish candle making workshops within 2.5 hours. After you have made your candles, it takes a little time for the candles to harden sufficiently for you to take home. Evening courses start at 6.30pm and weekend courses at 10am.

We have workshops available on weekends from 10.00am to 12.30pm.
