Welsh Blankets Colours - Traditional and Contemporary

Caernarfon Blanket Colour Range

Last updated 21st December 2025

Our iconic Caernarfon pattern Welsh blankets are available in a range of colours, in both traditional and contemporary tones - both are very popular. As the blankets are reversible (woven with two different coloured yarns), the pattern will appear as the reverse of the primary colour on the reverse side.

Traditional Colourways

These reflect the classic colours historically popular in Welsh mills - two blanket images shown with front and reverse sides.

  • Moss Green: A classic, earthy shade.
  • Red Dragon Red: A deep, vibrant red reminiscent of the Welsh flag.
  • Navy Blue: A timeless, deep blue.
  • Slate Grey: A cool, versatile neutral colour.

Double Cloth Weaving - Reversibility Example

Taking the Moss Green blanket as an example:

  • The main (front) side features Moss Green as the dominant background colour with a secondary colour (like cream, yellow, or grey) forming the Caernarfon pattern.
  • The revers side features the secondary colours as the dominant background, with the Moss Green forming the pattern, a full colour inversion.
