USA Trade Tariffs - End of No Tariffs on Small Orders - the De Minimis Rules
As of this week, we have suspended shipping to the USA. Previously there were no import tariffs on our products as they are all below the 'tariff free' De Minimis figure of $800 or about £600.
So What has Changed?
All goods from the UK to USA are now subject to tariffs.
Its not just the UK, dozens of countries have also suspended shipping to the USA.
In our case (goods sent from the UK) the tariff appears to be 10% plus some import charges. These charges will be paid by USA customers.
Exactly how they will be paid is not yet clear to us.
It is not clear, currently, how shipments will be processed in the USA.
When will this Problem be Resolved?
No dates for resolution are available.
Our preferred couriers Royal Mail/Parcelforce are working on a Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) option for us as the retailer to charge on each shipment.
It seems that this will add some 10% to 15% to the overall cost of all our products.
